Costa Rica

Here is my photo that I took of a sloth on June 22, 2023, in Manuel Antonio Park in Costa Rica. I was on a walking tour when I found this beautiful creature. I took the photo by putting binoculars to my phone camera since I didn’t have it with me. I was able to capture it sleeping peacefully, my goal with the photo was to capture the essence of this beautiful country through its wildlife. Hope you guys enjoy the photo as much as I do. – VLD

Mexico

“Don Ernesto, a humble & self taught painter from the vibrant streets of Mexico.”

Date: June 26, 2023
Destination: Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico

As I was walking down the cobble & vibrant streets of Mexico, there was an old man painting quietly and humbly. The day was hot & humid, however he didn’t seem to mind the heat at all. It appeared he had traveled back in time through his paintbrush. Mesmerized by the exquisite art that was in front of me, I couldn’t help but strike up a conversation with him.

I began to ask him about his art, passions and his story. Don Ernesto, a humble & self taught painter, was only 12 when he first grabbed a paintbrush in the streets of Acambaro, Go. Since then, not a day has gone by without a paintbrush in his hand. They often asked him if he went to art school to learn all the astounding skills he knows. However he smiles and says, “all I know has been given to me as a gift from God.” He admits that pursuing his artistic dreams hasn’t been easy. After all, Mexico doesn’t offer the support & resources he needs to make a sustainable income as an artist. However, he has faith God will provide for him and allow him to keep creating art.

Meeting Don Ernesto yesterday changed my life. It reminded me that when God gives us a gift, we must share it with the world. our age, gender, race shouldn’t stop us from pursuing our dreams. If we trust, God will take care of us in imaginable ways. – LL
